Loafers
Elegant slip-on loafers for effortless sophistication
A loafer has no laces to forgive a poor fit, so the last has to hold the foot by the heel and the instep alone. That is the whole craft of the shoe. Our loafers are made in Copenhagen on lasts shaped for a snug heel and a clean, unbroken line along the vamp.
The apron-front loafer in the collection is cut from Italian calf leather and finished with a hand-stitched apron, the raised seam that frames the front of the shoe. It is hand-welted with a leather sole, which gives the loafer a firm, supportive footbed rather than the soft, slipper-like feel of a glued shoe, and makes it fully resoleable.
Made to order or bespoke
Made to order, you choose the leather, the colour, the sole and the finishing and receive the pair in three to four months. For a bespoke loafer we carve a last to your feet and build a trial pair first, in the atelier or through our remote bespoke service, so the fit is settled before the final pair is made.
How to wear a loafer
In dark brown or burgundy calf a loafer pairs with flannel trousers, chinos and unstructured jackets from spring through autumn. In black it can replace an Oxford with a suit in a relaxed office. Loafers show the leather more than any other shoe, so a light polish and a shoe tree after each wear keep them looking new.
Prices are quoted on request. Book a consultation or write to the atelier to discuss leathers, colours and lead times.
