Derby Shoes
Versatile Derby shoes with open lacing for a refined yet relaxed look
The Derby is the Oxford's relaxed sibling. Its open lacing, with the quarters stitched on top of the vamp, gives the shoe more room over the instep and a slightly sturdier look, which makes it the most versatile shoe in a wardrobe: right with a suit on a Friday, right with denim on a Saturday.
Our Derbies are made in Copenhagen on our own lasts, in Italian and French calf leather. The split toe Derby, with its hand-stitched apron and toe seam, is the design that shows the most handwork in the collection. Every pair is hand-welted, with a leather sole stitched to the welt, so the shoes can be resoled for decades.
Made to order or bespoke
Choose a design, then the leather, colour, sole and finishing, and we make the pair to order in three to four months. For a last carved to your own measurements, the same designs are available as a bespoke commission, in the atelier or remotely with guided video measurements and a trial pair of fitting shoes.
How to wear a Derby
A dark brown split toe Derby on a leather sole works with grey flannel, tweed and corduroy, and with a navy suit in most offices. On a rubber or double leather sole it becomes an everyday shoe for the Scandinavian winter. Keep a shoe tree in each pair and let them rest a day between wears.
Prices are quoted on request. Book a consultation or contact the atelier and we will help you choose the right design and last.
